Digitizing Analog Voting Processes

The Democratic caucuses are run by state parties and the DNC in order to choose presidential nominees. Participants divide themselves into groups according to the candidate they support. The number of delegates given to each candidate is based on the number of caucus votes they received. This process ultimately helps determine the presidential nominee for the Democratic party.

With a team of product managers, engineers, directors and staff of two state parties, and the DNC, I designed digital systems for the 2020 presidential caucuses. These tools included:

  • Caucus preference recording app and voter check in systems used by volunteers

  • Caucus early voting system used by voters

  • Caucus analytics dashboards and user management system used by state parties, volunteers, and the DNC

  • Public-facing website for election results
